Ronald "Tade" Leroy Smeak

Ronald “Tade” Leroy Smeak, Sr., 71, of Meyersdale, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born July 12, 1950 in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of Reggie Lee and Kathryn Mae (Logsdon) Smeak.

Preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy (Bittner) Smeak.

Survived by his children: Rhonda Kennell and husband Keith, Kennells Mill; Ronald Smeak Jr. and wife Cathy, Shanksville; Eric Smeak and wife Tammy, Stoystown; Jennifer Hay and husband Matthew, Meyersdale; grandchildren: Katelyn Kennell-Gaither, Emily Kennell Bryant, Katelynn Smeak Mickey, Cole and Carver Smeak, Dylan and Alex Hay, Glenn and Nicole Smith, Bernie, Gearmo, Davina, and Austin Smeak; great grandchildren: Fletcher Bryant and Taden Gaither. A brother of: Roger Smeak and wife Darlene, Darlene Shaffer and husband Guy, Mary Lou Myers and husband Ralph.

Tade was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from PennDOT as an operator. A member of Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church, Kennells Mill Sportsmens Club, Garrett Sportsmens Association, Meyersdale American Legion Post 112, and Meyersdale VFW. He spent as much time as he could at his cabin in West Virginia, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting, along with his good friend, Jack Sanner, and numerous other friends. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, and he enjoyed teaching them many things.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Gabe Yoder officiating. Graveside military honors will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills, with the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
