Robert G. "Bob" Ohler, 89, of Meyersdale, died January 26, 2021 at UPMC Somerset. Born March 11, 1931 in Shaw Mines, the son of William "Bill" and Mary (Housel) Ohler.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother: Simon, William and Oscar Ohler Sr.; and sisters; Effie Martz and Shirley Schrock.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Yutzy) Ohler; son: Richard Ohler and wife Nimi; daughter: Cindy Beal and husband Merle; grandchildren: Matthew Beal and wife Laura, Nicole Hartline and husband Joey, Michael Ohler, and Megan Ohler; 3 great grandchildren: Danielle, Maddie, and Bryce; sister: Viola Kimble.
U.S. Army veteran, where he was a cook and stationed in the Alaska.
Bob was a barber in Meyersdale for 62 years and he worked at Penn Pocahontas Coal Mine until it closed. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Meyersdale; and a former member of the Meyersdale Fire Deptarment, where he served as First Assistant, and a former ambulance driver.
Bob enjoyed family vacations, spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, baking, and doing puzzles and at times, he was competetive with his granddaughter.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale. Due to COVID-19, the family will not be in attendance, but wanted to give the opportunity for people to pay their respects to Bob. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
