Richard G. "Dick" Deist, 72, of Meyersdale, entered into his heavenly home on March 23, 2025. Born August 22, 1952 in Meyersdale, the son of Cloyd B. and Thelma (Butler) Deist Sr.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Kirk Richard and Neil Richard Deist; sister: Betty Jo Bland; and in-laws: Walter "Hank" and Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Fike.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann (Fike) Deist, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 10th; brother: Cloyd Deist Jr. and sister: Shirley Hickman.
Dick was well known to many; he loved a challenge to repair anything that was broken. He was the owner of Century Concrete Co., formerly the Fi-Hoff Concrete Co. in Meyersdale for 43 years. He loved his work and was willing to help others. Over the Christmas holiday, he brought many smiles to both the young and old, by playing Santa Claus for the past 53 years. He was a member of Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Tim Yoder and Pastor Justin Putnam officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Caring Hands for Cancer, Meyersdale, or Conemaugh Regional Hospice, Johnstown.
