Marjorie V. Rumbaugh, 94, of Meyersdale, passed away on May 11, 2019 at Windber Hospice at Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center. Born January 26, 1925 in Raleigh, North Carolina, the daughter of Wallace and Elsie (Williams) Peterson. Preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Dr. Ross St. Clair Rumbaugh.
Survived by her children: Ross Richard Rumbaugh and wife, Sharon (Schafer), Lancaster; Robert Wallace Rumbaugh and wife, Rhonda (Hitt), Centre Hall; Janet St. Claire Bruce and fiancé Richard Pirrotta, Johnstown; William Peterson Rumbaugh and wife, Diane (Poehlmann), Beaver Falls; grandchildren: Gregory, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Michael, Douglas, Craig, Allyson, Lindsay, William, Julie, Tanner, Kelly, TJ and Kacie; and 13 great grandchildren. She graduated from Upper Darby High School and Drexel University, both in Philadelphia. Marjorie and her husband, Dr. Ross Rumbaugh were married June 16, 1945 and moved to Meyersdale in 1950. She lived on the same street for 69 years.
Marjorie was initiated in the Order of the Eastern Star on February 16, 1952 and actively participated in the Meyersdale Chapter for 67 years, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1984. She was a founding member of the Card Club, and a member of Amity United Church of Christ. The family would like to thank Laurel View Village and Windber Hospice for their excellent care.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Connie Garlick officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Amity United Church of Christ.
