Janet R. Bittner, 83, of Meyersdale, passed away February 11, 2024 at The Patriot, Somerset.

Born March 1, 1940 in Frostburg, Md., the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Muti) Ruffo.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband: Robert A. Bittner; son: Richard A. Bittner; brother: Francis A. Ruffo; sister-in-law: Mary Jane Merrbach and husband Johnny Merrbach; and brother-in-law: Bill Bittner.

She is survived by her son: Paul E. Bittner and wife Flordeliza, Meyersdale; granddaughter: Paula L. Johnston and husband Leonard; great granddaughter: Leila Emilia Johnston; brother: Ronald L. Ruffo and wife June; daughter-in-law Katherine Bittner; sister-in-law: Dorothy Ruffo; special niece: Brenda Metz; special friends: Teresa Rhoten and Linda Tuscano; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet was a graduate of Cumberland Memorial Hospital, and was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of SS. Philip & James Catholic Church and a former member of the Meyersdale Hospital Auxiliary, the Meyersdale R.N. Association, and The Red Hat Ladies.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, Meyersdale. Rev. Stephen Shin OFM Cap. Inurnment Greenville Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, 247 High St., Meyersdale, PA 15552.
