Gertrude M. Hersch, 89, of Meyersdale, passed to her heavenly home on January 12, 2019 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born July 17, 1929 in Coal Run, the daughter of Charles E. and Margaret M. (Deal) Stevanus. Preceded in death by her parents; husband: William “Dutch” Hersch; infant sister: Mabel Carrie; sister: Mildred Harbel; and brother: John Stevanus.

Survived by her children: Mary Margaret Werner (Dale), Berlin; Deanna Thompson (Robert), Meyersdale; Trudy Landis (Scott), Berlin; and William Hersch (Kerry), Berlin; grandchildren: Alex King, Tyler Landis, Charlie Hersch, Robert Thompson, Cameron Landis, Chris Thompson, Sydney Hersch, Katherine Landis, and Evan Thompson; and sister: Alice Stevanus, Berlin.

She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for numerous years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Tom Sprowls officiating. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery at White Oak. Pall bearers will be her grandsons: Alex, Tyler, Robert, Cameron, Chris and Evan, and honorary pall bearer Charlie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Berlin or Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Departments.
