Alma Jane Lauver, 94, of Meyersdale, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2025 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born October 16, 1930 in Cumberland, Md., the daughter of Roy T. Hare and Jennie Jane (Harding) Hare Phenicie.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. Gene Lauver; brother: Thomas R. Hare.
Survived by her sons: Jay G. Lauver and wife Vicki, Williamsport, Md.; and David O. Lauver and wife Karen, Meyersdale; grandchildren: Eric (Rie) Lauver, Brooke (Chantz) Griffith, Ryan Lauver, Emily Lauver, and Kolbi (Cody) Martz; great grandchildren: Alex Lauver, Aaron Lauver, Cannon Griffith, Dake Griffith, Gauge Nedrow Martz and Aurora Martz; sister: Joan Zavala and half-brother: Ted Hare, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Alma was a graduate of Meyersdale High School. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Jeff Irwin DDS and as a clerk at The Gift Shop in Meyersdale. Gene and Alma were one of the original partners in 4 Guys Fire Trucks Inc., Meyersdale. She was a member of Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale, where she was the church secretary and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of OES #548, where she served as chaplain; Meyersdale Garden Club; Meyersdale Historical Society; proctor for the Murder Mystery for many years; and received the Boy Scouts Citizen of the Year Award.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. Pastor Eric Shaulis officiating. Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Dept. or Amity UCC.
