She began working at age 14 at the Meyersdale Shirt Factory until she married at 23. She then returned to the factory after she had her children where she continued until age 75 and only retired because the factory closed. Alice was an exceptionally gifted seamstress, who made many clothes for her sisters and children. She could make anything from quilts to upholstery to crafts of all kinds. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and preserving. She loved bluegrass music, and played the accordion and Hawaiian guitar. Most of all, she had a great love for the Lord and instilled great faith in her children. Prov. 31:28 “Her children rise up and call her blessed…”
