Sanner
Truman R. Sanner Jr., 70, of Garrett, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 31, 2018 at home after a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by his beloved family. Born at home on July 15, 1947 in Summit Twp., the son of Truman and Sara (Pyle) Sanner Sr.
Preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Dennis.
Survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Esther (Baker) Sanner; children: Truman Sanner III and wife Anna, Harmony, NC; Tonya Shuck and husband Dale, Garrett; Thomas Sanner and fiancé Lindsey, Garrett. Forever loved and remembered by his grandchildren: Abby, Conner, and Colton Shuck and Elizabeth and Olivia Sanner. Also survived by his brother and sisters: Joyce Romesburg and husband Frank; Bennett Hoover and husband Cloyd; Paul Sanner and wife Frances; Rose Marker and husband Lawrence; Carol Lepley and husband Eugene Sr.; and Mary Sanner. Also three very special nephews, James Sanner, Gary Sanner, and Eugene Lepley Jr.
Truman operated a bull dozer on a strip mine for 40 years. He also owned and operated the farm that he was born and raised on. Truman was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved taking his granddaughter, Abby Deer, and turkey hunting. He also enjoyed spending every morning of his retirement having coffee and cookies with his two dogs. In 1969, Truman was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Center Lutheran Church, Garrett and American Legion Post 112 Meyersdale. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. A special thanks from the family to Conemaugh Regional Hospice.
Friends will be received on 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday with Father Scott Lill, Chaplain for Conemaugh Hospice, officiating. Interment Center Church Cemetery, Garrett.
Graveside military rites by the Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his name to the Conemaugh Regional Hospice.
