Betty D. Suder, 100, of Meyersdale, entered eternal life 6 days after her 100th birthday. Born in Meyersdale on January 23, 1917, the daughter of the late William P. and Bertha (Richardson) Diveley. She was the last surviving member of the Diveley family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Suder in 1994; infant daughter: Janet Suzanne; two brothers: Paul and William; and two sisters: Josephine and Louise Beegly.
Survived by her son: David and his wife Kathleen (Lohr) Suder; three grandchildren: Marci, Danielle, and Matthew. Also survived by her brother-in-law: Mack Suder, Gibsonia; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was a 1934 graduate of Meyersdale High School. After graduation she was employed at G.C. Murphy Co. in Meyersdale for several years. After her marriage, she became a full time homemaker, mother, and grandmother to her beloved family. Betty assisted in the operation of the family farm outside of Meyersdale. She was a long time member of the First Society of Farm Women, and a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Meyersdale. She was also active for many years along with her husband Emerson in promoting the Somerset County Fair.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and devoted employees of Meyersdale Healthcare and Rehabilitation for the loving care they provided during her extended time there.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn P. Foster officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Meyersdale.
