Wanetta G. Lohr, 85, of State College and formerly of Garrett, passed away November 2, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford. Wanetta was born in Wellersburg, on April 16, 1935. She was the only daughter of the late Lavada Rogers and Thomas Halle. On June 1, 1953 she married Walter Lohr, who preceded her in death. Even though they were inexperienced, these young newlyweds built their own home themselves and shared an enduring love that lasted over 60 years.
Wanetta is survived by one daughter, Josetta (Joseph) Lichty, of State College; and one son, David Lohr of Cranberry Twp. She has four grandchildren: Dr. Jordan (Jenny) Lichty, of State College, Jessica Lichty, of Charleston, SC, Kate Lohr of Pittsburgh, and the late Matthew Lohr. She also has two great grandchildren, Heidi and Gwendolyn Lichty.
In her younger years, she enjoyed providing a warm and happy home for her family, traveling with her husband, horse back riding, sewing, photography, and playing the organ. Any hobby she chose was pursued with a full and determined commitment! As her health declined, she found solace in her strong faith. She also drew comfort from her bible-study classes, visits with family and friends and caring for her "fur-babies" Abe and Sarah.
Wanetta was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in State College and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Meyersdale.
Visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Meyersdale, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dr. David Williams officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. Face coverings and social distancing are required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in State College.
Arrangements entrusted to Price Funeral Service, Inc. Meyersdale.
