Tony "Gundy" Vena, 91 , of Meyersdale, went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2022 at In Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born May 21, 1930 in Shaw Mines, the son of Giovanni Sr. and Grace (Dunmeyer) Vena.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Jean (Sacco) Vena; sisters: Alice Shaulis, Marion "Madgie" Mosser Claymore; brothers: John, James, and Robert Vena; stepson: Gary "Herb" Taylor; and step granddaughter: Tyra.
Survived by his sisters: Jean Durst, Salisbury; Shirley Stanton, Pittsburgh; brother: Roy Vena, Meyersdale; stepson: Guy Taylor; step grandchildren: Jennifer, Justin, Alexandria Jo Taylor; Kayla and TJ Gnagey; step great grandchildren: Olivia Baker and Riley Bittner. Also survived by his special niece and caregiver, Jodie (Vena) Christner, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
"Gundy" was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved reading Western and History books, watching Western movies, fishing, and spending time with his family.
At the family request, there will be no viewing or visitation.
A graveside military service will be held at a later date at Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery, with the Somerset County Honor Guard and Pastor Eric Shaulis officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given in Tony's name to any of his favorite charities: St. Jude Research Hospital, DAV, or Eastern Nazarene College.
