Shirley D. Hare, 89, of Meyersdale, passed away surrounded by her family on April 13, 2025 at her home. Born October 24, 1935 in Meyersdale, the daughter of Herbert and Anna (Knepper) Knox.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Denzil Sherman Hare; son, Kevin D. Hare; brother, Earl Coleflesh; and sister, Gladys Brant. Survived by her son, Neil Hare (Barbara Reese); grandchildren: Heather Hoover (Ervin Hoover Jr.) and Neil Hare Jr. (Diane Schrock); great grandchildren: Abigail D. Hare, Carter M. Twombly, Emma G. Hare, Maddilynn N. Twombly, Hunter R. Hare, Olivia C. Twombly, and Anastasia K. Hoover; sisters: Mary Hare and Minnie Bittinger. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a seamstress at Meyersdale Manufacturing for many years. After she retired from Meyersdale Manufacturing, she became a housekeeper for many local businesses. She was a member of Somerset Church of the Nazarene. Shirley loved completing word searches, watching the Hallmark Channel, reading her Bible, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Robert Henderson and Pastor James VanderSchurr officiating.
