Obituary
Sandra “Sandy” Lee Kelly, 80, passed away at 6:55 p.m. on January 12 at In Touch Hospice in Somerset, Pa.
She was born May 17, 1941, to Orville and Edna Bittinger in Grantsville, Md.
Sandy married Robert Thomas Kelly Jr. on June 17, 1960, with whom she spent 42 wonderful years before his passing in 2002.
While her parents and husband preceded her in death, she left behind many surviving family members she loved dearly. She is survived by sisters Wilma Hutzel and Helen Newman; children, Keith Kelly, Patricia Crouse, Jeffery Kelly, and Karen Avey; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She spent her life caring for everyone around her and making fast friends with those she surrounded herself with. Sandy worked for the Meyersdale shirt factory for 30 years. She attended St. Phillip and James Catholic Church in Meyersdale, Pa. Every summer, she traveled to Ocean City, Md., to the beach she loved very much. Sandy put love and spiritedness into all she did, especially her time with her family, whom she deeply loved.
She made everyone around her feel at home and made sure that everyone was fed. Little did her loved ones know just how special iced tea or an afternoon swinging on the porch at “Ima’s” house would mean so much. Many will fondly remember her kind and forthright nature.
