Marie E. (Lepley) Gnagey

Marie E. Gnagey, 95, of Meyersdale passed away July 17, 2023 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born August 29, 1927 in Mt. Savage, Maryland the daughter of Harvey and Bessie (Hall) Lepley.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Rev. Ray E. Gnagey; sisters: Mary Wahl, Faye Ellis; brothers: Alvin, Stanley, and Galen Lepley. 
Survived by her two daughters: Carolyn (Tim) Sharkey; and Amy (Ernie) Dixon; grandchildren: Ian (Kristen) Sharkey, Ryan (Samantha) Sharkey, Lee (Dionne) Martell, Michael (Joni) Martell; great grandchildren: Teaghan, Liam, Saoirse, Connor, Maxwell, Macy, and MJ.

Marie accepted the Lord at the age of 11 at the Mt. Harmony Church in Wellersburg.
In 1950, she married her husband, Ray. Alongside Ray, they served the Evangelical United Brethren Church until the union with the Methodist Church that resulted in the United Methodist Church. They served the Somerset, Sarver, Clearfield, Big Run, and then retired from the New Brighton charge. Marie taught Sunday School for over 50 years, and she loved to teach the young adult class. Ray and Marie finally retired to the St. John’s (Temple) Church.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, at St. John’s (Temple) Church, Meyersdale. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, following the visitation. MardiAnn Vincent, Rev. Dave Klink, and Rev. Jim Fish officiating. Interment St. John (Temple) Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be given to the organization of your choice.
