Loretta Jane (Fritz) Saylor

Loretta Jane (Fritz) Saylor, 91, of Meyersdale, went to be with the Lord, December 31, 2021, at Meyersdale Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Meyersdale.  She was born November 10, 1930 in Garrett, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Hillegass) Fritz.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Saylor, who passed November 26, 2019; two brothers, Alfred Fritz and Eugene Fritz; and, a sister, Doris F. Dunlap.

Survived by two sons: Dr. Randall (Paula) Saylor, Gibsonia, PA and Kent (Carol) Saylor, Meyersdale, and six grandchildren: Lindsay (Christopher) Ryan, Fairfield, CT; Erica (Joe) Euler, NYC; Aaron Saylor, Gibsonia; Gina (Ian) Thokar, Fairmont, WV; Andrew (Ashley) Saylor, Versailles, KY; and Zachary Saylor, Meyersdale. Also survived by a great-granddaughter, Lilly Renee Dunmeyer, and two great-grandsons: Liam Christopher Ryan and Evan Paul Thokar; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Campbell, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

Loretta was a 1948 graduate of Meyersdale High School, a 35-year member of the First Society of Farm Women and a longtime member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

She worked alongside her husband in managing a dairy farm; many times, milking the cows alone while the men were doing field work. Loretta was also the bookkeeper for the family business.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many school activities. She was especially happy to see each grandchild graduate from college. Also, Loretta loved baking cookies for them, and in recent years, she enjoyed so much visiting with her great-grandchildren.

Special thanks go to her caregivers, Carol Cook and Shelba Porter, who cared for her in her home with kindness and respect. Also, special thanks to Meyersdale Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their care during her last days.

The funeral service will be private as requested by the family, with Pastor Dottie Grew officiating. Interment will be in the Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery.
