Larry E. Kirchner, 79, of Meyersdale, died January 24, 2023 at UPMC Altoona. Born November 17, 1943 in Carthage, Missouri, the son of Robert Eugene and Regina Catherine (Murphy) Kirchner.
Preceded in death by his parents; son: Bryan E. Kirchner; and brother: Edward J. Kirchner.
Survived by his sons: David R. Kirchner, Davidson, North Carolina; Mark R. Kirchner and wife Gayle, Meyersdale; grandson: Seth Grimm; brother: Robert A. Kirchner (Kim); sister: Sharon L. Burkholder (Jack); former wife and friend, Rebecca Kirchner; girlfriend, Nancy Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Bonnie. Larry was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He was awarded a National Defense Service medal as a sharpshooter.
Larry was a draftsman for Kelly Springfield Tire Co. for 31 years. He also was the former co-owner of the Casselman Valley Sport Shop, Salisbury. A member Salisbury VFW Post 8826 and the American Legion Post 112, Meyersdale. He coached Meyersdale little league and Meyersdale junior legion baseball for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price Funeral Service, Inc., Meyersdale, where funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Eric Shaulis officiating.
