Kenneth Werner Obituary

Kenneth E. Werner, 81, of Garrett, died July 30, 2021 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born January 13, 1940 in Garrett, the son of Samuel Earl and Etta Mae (Llewellyn) Werner.

Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Wilma (Burkholder) Werner, second wife, Patricia Ann (Zimmerman) Werner; sons: Frederick Werner II, Bradley Werner, and Bruce Nightingale; grandson: Travis Nightingale; brothers: Bill Werner, Donald Werner, Rodger Werner, and Charles Aurndt; sisters: Sally Romesburg and Shirley Donaldson. 

Survived by his children: Wendell Werner and wife Christine, Garrett; Scott Nightingale, Simpsonville, South Carolina; Dave Nightingale, Berlin; Deborah Abshire and husband Cam, Greenville, South Carolina; Sheri Stout and husband Donald, Somerset; special children: Joe and Sue Abbott, Garrett; grandchildren: Nichole Werner, Wendell Werner Jr. and wife Jordan, Rick and Jackie Werner, Lee Ann Werner, Fred Werner and fiancée Amanda, Jeremy and Holly Nightingale, Andrew and Jadie Nightingale, Michelle and Shayne Ryder, Joshua Nightingale, Melanie Kennell, Anji Lyons, Scott and Alyssa Lyons, Kara and Cameron Lindsey, and Jenna Nightingale; 19 great grandchildren.

Also survived by sisters: Helen Davis, Lois Myers, Wilma Purbaugh, and Bonnie Decker and husband Rick.

He was employed by the Crane Company, Penn Pocahontas, and retired from Meadow View Nursing Center where he was a maintenance worker.  

He was a member of the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years, and he currently served as President; and a member of BPOE #1951 and numerous organizations over the years.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family. Interment Highland Cemetery, Garrett.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department or Meals on Wheels.
