She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in piano and organ. After graduation she pursued clinical coursework and completed an internship in music therapy, becoming one of the first music therapists in the country. Music therapy was the focus of her early career. She worked for Somerset-Bedford Mental Health for 28 years and retired as a casework supervisor.
Her love of music was the foundation of a 65 year career as a church organist, locally serving SS. Philip and James and St. Michael’s Catholic Churches. She routinely traveled with her husband, an ordained Catholic deacon, as he served the community.
Her family, her work, her music and her hobbies enriched her life. She enjoyed following the adventures and misadventures of her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in the fact that her children and grandchildren each made music a part of their school experience. Cake decorating, ceramics, knitting and reading filled many of her free time hours.
