Janet Louise (Weigle) Critchfield Obituary

Janet Louise Critchfield, 84, of Hermitage, PA passed into the arms of her Savior on March 4, 2026. Preceded in death by her loving parents: John and Betty Weigle; husband: Donald; and cherished cousin Wanda Lou. Survived by her son: Stephen (Mary); beloved grandchildren: Johnny, Bobby, Danny and Stephanie; brother: Greg (Laurie), who lovingly cared for over the past 4 years and brother: Bill (Diane).


Also survived by former daughter-in-law: Debbie and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her. Janet was born and raised in Garrett, PA and graduated from Meyersdale Area High School in 1959. She then attended Shadyside Nursing School in Pittsburgh, PA, completing her RN and later her MSN. Her professional life was always in service to others, as both a nurse and Nursing Administrator.


Although she lived most of her life in Vineland NJ, Somerset County and especially Garrett, always held a special place in her heart. Janet was a superb cook, a master quilter, and an avid reader. She loved traveling abroad and found calm serenity when at the ocean. She was a fanatical Phillies, Flyers and Eagles fan, for which her two brothers have forgiven her. Rest in Peace Dear Sister.


Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 12 p.m., (noon), at Center Lutheran Church, Garrett. Pastor Glenn P. Foster officiating. Interment to follow at Center Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Recovery Housing, Youngstown, Ohio via Laurie Weigle 216-401-8221 in memory of Joshua Marriotti's Legacy.
