Donald H. “Dub” Hostetler Sr., 81, of Garrett, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 23, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born November 11, 1937, in Garrett, the son of Frank “Bud” and Ocy (Pritts) Hostetler.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Louise (Sivits) Hostetler; and brothers: Frank Hostetler and Paul A. Hostetler; sister-in-law: Barbara Hostetler; and nephew: William Hostetler.
Survived by his children: Tammy Miller and husband Bob; and Donnie Hostetler Jr, all of Garrett; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Ickes, Christa (Josh) Wiltrout, Heather (Derek) Hummel and Ashley (Scott) Kelly; 10 great grandchildren: Liam and Parker Hummel, Karsyn, Easton, and Reese Ickes, Kaden, Brody and Brock Kelly, and Marabella and Bryson Wiltrout. Also survived by his aunt, Mary Alice Miller and sister-in-law: Helen Hostetler; nieces: Paula Hostetler and Anita (Ken) Hersh.
He was Owner of Dub’s Bar in Garrett for 45 years. He previously worked at Crane Company for 15 years before purchasing his business. In his youth, he loved playing baseball and was a home run king. He also played softball for various teams. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed riding 4 wheelers, playing pool, and watching his Dallas Cowboys. Dub was proud of his pool team, winning Meyersdale pool league 4 years in a row. He always greeted the ladies with a hug and the men with a handshake. Lifetime member of Brooklyn Hunting Camp, Meyersdale Elks Lodge. Also a member of Meyersdale Moose, Meyersdale VFW, Rockwood Legion SAL, Somerset Eagles, and Garrett Fire Hall. He was a loving father and grandfather, who was known and loved by many friends, and he will be deeply missed. On Saturday September 28, mom and dad will be celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary together in heaven.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Garrett, with Rev. Glenn P. Foster officiating. Interment Highland Cemetery, Garrett. Arrangements by Price Funeral Service, Inc., Meyersdale.
