Merrbach
Austin J. Merrbach, 88, of Meyersdale, died September 28, 2014 at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born December 11, 1925 in Salisbury, the son of the late Phillip Merrbach and Malinda (Miller) Merrbach Jurca. Preceded in death by his brothers: Wilbur and Luke; and sister: Loretta.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jane (Bittner) Merrbach; daughter: Brenda Metz and husband Wayne, Sharpsburg, Md.; granddaughters: Susan Franceschina and Michelle Metz; great granddaughters: Abby, Katie, and Jackie Franceschina. Also survived by sister: Sharon Buckreis, Beaver.
He is a U.S. Army veteran.
Member of Greenville Lutheran Church and former member of the Salisbury American Legion and the Friendship Grange.
He enjoyed making wooden craft toys and woodworking.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenville Lutheran Church, with Rev. Ingrid Chenoweth officiating. Interment Greenville Union Cemetery.
