Ada B. Saylor, 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2025.
Ada was born in Meyersdale, PA, to Bill and Madge Hornig. She graduated from Meyersdale Area High School, attended Business School and worked at the Pentagon. She later married Joe Saylor and moved to Newport News, Virginia. While raising her two children, Scott and Lynette, Ada was an aerobics instructor. Once the children were grown, she went on to work in the HR Department at Newport News Shipbuilding, where she retired.
Ada was a fitness fanatic. She enjoyed aerobics, dancing and playing tennis until she was 80 years old. She was a devoted member of Ivy Farms Church of the Brethren.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Madge Hornig; her brothers, Herb, Harold, Jake, Sam and Charlie; her sisters, Rhea and Bonnie; her husband, Joe and her son, Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Lynette; her granddaughter, Shelby Moore; her great-granddaughter, Scottie Moore; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Saylor and son-in-law, Tyree Nickerson; and sister, Alice Firey.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 2 pm at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale. Pastor Eric Shaulis officiating. Inurnment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery.
