Dolores (Snyder) Hady

Dolores Snyder Hady, age 94, of York, formerly of Meyersdale, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.  She was born February 24, 1930, in Pocahontas, Pennsylvania (Somerset County) to Margaret Yutzy Snyder and Lawrence Snyder. 

Dolores spent her early years in Pocahontas and attended the Pocahontas School.  She then moved to Meyersdale where she attended Meyersdale Area Schools and graduated in 1948.  She spent her high school years working at Gnagey’s Dairy in Meyersdale.  Following graduation, she worked for the Department of Public Welfare in Somerset and then over 30 years with General Telephone Company in the business office.  She completed her career at Citizen’s National Bank in Meyersdale.

Dolores married the late Michael H. Hady Jr.  She is survived by children Diana Cogan (John), Livonia, NY and Michael Hady III (Melanie), York, PA.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jillian Senner, Meredith Mangels, John Cogan and Patrick Cogan as well as eight great grandchildren and a sister-in-law JoAnn Hunter.  

Dolores was a lifetime member of Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale, where she sang in the choir, taught the kindergarten Sunday School Class.  She cherished her friends at the telephone company and the bank and had many wonderful luncheon outings with all of them after she retired.  She was an amazing cake baker and likely made more Jello salads in her life than anyone else.  She was an incredible mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. 

TENATIVE SERVICES: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale, where a memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Rev. Daniel Whitacre officiating. Inurnment Greenville Union Cemetery.
