Robert G. Edwards, 86, of Meyersdale, died May 18, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born August 3, 1928 in New Kensington, the son of Evan E. and Hazel (Reihard) Edwards.

Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Doris Jean (Jaymes) Edwards, who passed away May 18, 1992; and sisters: Ruby Cooper and Dorothy McClelland.

Survived by his wife, Mary Edwards and her family;

children:  Margaret E. Troutman and husband Dale, Robert E. Edwards and wife Suzanne, Madolin S. Edwards, Mary Helen Yutzy and husband Dean, and Douglas W. Edwards and wife Kelly, all of Meyersdale; grandchildren: Patrick, Gregory, Meredith, Zachary, Ian, Bailey, Amber, Justin, Paige, Presley and Tyler; and 6 great grandchildren.

Bob was the elementary principal at Meyersdale Area School District from 1962-1982. After his retirement, he taught handwriting, was a funeral assistant at Price Funeral Home, and was a former golf pro at Piney Run Golf Course.

He was the first recipient of the Meyersdale Lions Club Citizen of the Year; a honorary director and past president of the PA Maple Festival; founding member of the Hi Point Trail Riders; Life member of the Meyersdale Fire Department and Meyersdale Area Ambulance Association; and a member of PASR, BPOE Lodge #1951 and Meyersdale Rotary. He also painted signs for many businesses and events in Meyersdale. Bob enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting and musical events.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Dottie Grew officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in his name to the Meyersdale Fire Department, Meyersdale Area Ambulance Association, or the PA Maple Festival.
