Rev. Kenneth A. Davis, 79, of Garrett, passed away February 1, 2017 at In Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born June 18, 1937, in Garrett, the son of Frederick A. and Susan E. (Kennell) Davis. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Fred, Dean, and Bill; sisters: Pauline, Ruth, Betty, and Janet; and special nephew and hunting partner, Jimmy Davis.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Helen Werner; children: Tim (Sandy) Davis, Berlin; David (Bobbi) Davis, Garrett; Kenny (Kim) Davis, Garrett; and Jennifer (Robert) Fritz, Garrett; grandchildren: Kirk, Alexandra, David, Jaron (Kelly), Kyle, Kenny, Nathan, Kaitlin, and Brady; great granddaughter: Kloey and one more baby girl on the way. Also survived by his brothers: Charles “Duck” Davis and Jim (Barb) Davis.
He became an ordained minister for Jesus Christ through the Church of the Brethren in 1979. He ministered for 35 years at several churches throughout Somerset County, as well as The Well Ministries, Garrett. He was known as “Rev” to the Somerset Co. softball community and Pappy Ken to his grandkids. He loved preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, turkey and deer hunting, fishing, playing ball with his kids and grandkids, spending time at “The Land” and drinking coffee with D.J. and Tracey and all his other buddies.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Randy Newell officiating. Interment Highland Cemetery, Garrett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department.
