Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary (Darrah) Hartle

February 2, 1919 ~ January 6, 2017 (age 97) 97 Years Old

MARY ELIZABETH (DARRAH) HARTLE

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary Elizabeth (Darrah) Hartle died peacefully on January 6, 2017. Born on February 2, 1919 to the late Augustus and Martha (Brooks) Darrah, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1999, and all of her siblings: sisters: Gertrude D'Este, Rita (William) Grof, Frances (Henry) Wilmoth, Mercedes (Victor) Lauerman and Josephine (Donald) Beynon; brothers James and Charles "Bud" Darrah.

She is survived by daughter: Martha (Richard) Munsch, son: John Hartle; adored grandchildren: Daniel (Ashley) Munsch and Katie (Dan) Costa; and precious great-grandchildren: Addison and Avery Munsch and Connor Costa. Also survived by sisters-in-law: Mary Agnes Bolden and Rose (Bud) Darrah; brother-in-law: Charles McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her love for her husband, children, widowed mother and extended family, Mary also enjoyed a lifelong close-knit relationship with her seven Darrah siblings, a group collectively specializing in Meyersdale family histories, amateur medical diagnoses, nuggets of gossip and countless fun-filled family trips and gatherings.

She is perhaps still remembered by some for her years of employment in Bolden's Shoe Store in Meyersdale, volunteerism at Maple Manor during the Pennsylvania Maple Festival, membership in the Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church Ladies Guild and the Meyersdale American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary possessed the faith, heart and soul of an angel, but as with any true lady, she was never completely comfortable without a compact, lipstick, comb, and mirror nearby. She was usually a fashion plate on the exterior but always a saint in her core. She blessedly enjoyed a long, comfortable and healthy life, and she will be loved forever.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale. Funeral Mass will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, Meyersdale, with Rev. Stephen Shin, OFM Cap. celebrant. Committal SS. Philip and James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in her name to the Meyersdale  Public Library, P.O. Box 98, Meyersdale, PA 15552.
