Just a week shy of his 84th birthday, Harold Lee Crissinger, of Meyersdale, PA., entered into eternal life on Monday, April 11, 2016. Harold was born April 19, 1932, to the late Howard and Minerva (Mazer) Crissinger and is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce (Manos) Crissinger. Harold was an avid fly fisherman and train enthusiast, spending 30 years as a dispatcher for Western Maryland Railroad, later CSX, after attending West Virginia University. Before attending West Virginia University, Harold served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Harold is a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church and throughout the years volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, little league coach, member of the Somerset County Fly Fishers club and president of the Maple Festival Board. After retirement, Harold’s passions included more fishing, traveling, maintenance man and chief greeter at the 218 Java Café, Christmas tree sales, fly tying and even more fishing.
In 1996, Harold married the second love of his life, Kay (Brocht) Crissinger. Anyone who knew Harold, will tell you that no kinder and more compassionate man has walked this earth. In addition to his wife Kay, Harold is survived by his two sisters, Lois (Crissinger) Tomb and Joyce (Crissinger) Staub and her husband Martin, his son Jeff Crissinger, daughter Kathy (Crissinger) Newman, their spouses Roxanne Crissinger and Greg Newman, respectively, and four granddaughters, Beth (Newman) Saguto, Emily Newman-Edwards, Jenna (Newman) Law and Kaitlyn Crissinger. In addition, Kay's daughters, Harold's stepdaughters, Brenda (Wagner) Burner and husband Ron, Cindy (Wagner) McCormick and husband Pat, children and grandchildren.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, with Rev.
